Synopsis[]

The competition to be crowned winner of the Carsely Jam-Off has always been fierce, but when the prize jam is poisoned leading to the death of a judge, things may finally have gone a step too far. Determined to bring the killer to justice, Agatha resolves to restore the competition’s name.[1]

Plot[]

Part 1[]

Agatha, Roy and Sarah attend the Fruit Preserve Festival, where Charles and James are two of the judges for the jam competition, and DCI Wilkes is one of the competitors. After a few rounds of tastings, however, the judges start to act out, hallucinating-and Dr. Stevens, believing she can fly, jumps from the roof. DCI Wilkes employs Agatha to find the killer, as he's currently in the frame.

Part 2[]

The police believe the latest death was an accident, but Agatha uncovers a possible connection to an earlier tragedy that may provide clues to the motive in this case. Meanwhile, Agatha's new flame turns out to have an incendiary effect at the funeral, where all manner of secrets come to light-and that's before Agatha gets herself into a jam that could prove fatal.

Agatha remarks that the Jellop family was cursed, with both Chloe Selby (née Jellop) and Liz dying, and mentions how Sarah had discovered Liz drowned in a vat of jam on a previous case. After a third death in the family, the Evesham Times's headline reads 'The curse of Jellop's Jams' and includes a picture of Liz Jellop. The article also mentions Liz's killer, Richard Binser, is not eligible for parole. (TV: Agatha Raisin & the Curious Curate)
