The Wizard of Evesham is the first episode of the second season of Agatha Raisin. The episode was written by Julia Gilbert and directed by Rob Bangura. It aired November 19, 2018 on Acorn TV.

The episode is based on the Agatha Raisin book of the same name.

In much need of pampering after a disastrous trip to Cyprus, Agatha turns to gorgeous Evesham hair guru, Jonny. Dazzled by his charms, it isn’t long before Agatha finds herself falling under the spell of the local wizard – but the spell is soon broken when she finds herself embroiled in a murder case.

After an utterly disastrous trip to Cyprus, Agatha Raisin returns to Carsely with a glorious tan, a head full of bad memories and most importantly without her almost-husband James. Her only saving grace is the unwavering support of her fellow sad singles Gemma and Roy, and the gang resolve to stay away from men forever, forming the Carsely single ladies group.

Desperately in need of some pampering and a new look, Agatha turns to the capable hands of Evesham’s hottest new hairdresser, the alluring hair wizard Jonny Shawpart. It soon becomes clear that no woman can seem to resist his charms, least of all his devoted receptionist Josie. Despite her best efforts, it isn’t long before Agatha too falls under his spell, betraying the single club pact when she accepts Jonny’s invitation to dinner. However, Agatha begins to feel that perhaps Jonny isn’t quite as innocent as she once thought when fellow Carsely Ladies Society member Liza is absolutely terrified of him. The gang quickly discover that Liza is not the only woman afraid of Jonny.

Agatha, Gemma, Roy and Sarah decide to uncover the truth behind Jonny; if he’s blackmailing the women of their village then it’s their duty to protect them... but their job takes an unexpected turn when the next day Jonny drops dead in his salon after being poisoned by ricin injected into his beloved vitamins!

Ever the opportunist, Agatha steals Jonny’s keys and runs to his house to hide any incriminating evidence that Jonny was using to blackmail the women of Carsely and is shocked to find out that Jonny’s list of victims was longer than they imagined, and Agatha is forced to admit that one of the women that she is so determined to protect may in fact be their killer.

As the list of potential suspects grows, the gang decide to look into Jonny’s mysterious past and discover that he left Bristol in less than ideal terms; his successful salon burnt to the ground.

When a Carsely villager is found dead, the pressure is on for Agatha to find the killer before they have the chance to kill again...
