Biography[]
Book series[]
At some point in his past, John served a prison sentence in Chelmsford, Essex for armed robbery.
John worked part-time as a cook for the Farmers Arms pub in Upper Cockburn. However he fell back into his old ways when he robbed a local Cotswolds pub wearing a mask and yielding a sawn-off shotgun. In addition to emptying all the money from the till he stole a charity collection off the bar. He was nervous that Agatha Raisin was aware of his lawbreaking due to her meddling around and constant questioning of his wife. Having previously sent her an anonymous death threat, he later stretched wire across the road on the steep hill that led into Carsely and successfully tripped Agatha up as she was cycling. As he went to further attack her with a large rock, Bill Wong arrived and John fled the scene. He rushed home and packed some clothes in a bag before driving off in his car, leaving his wife behind.
