Sheila Barr is a recurring character in the Agatha Raisin television series, originating in the novel Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death.

She was Agatha's neighbour when she first moved to Carsely and is the sister of James Lacey.

She is portrayed by Caroline Langrishe.


Television series

Season 1

Sheila was not impressed when Agatha Raisin moved to Carsely. Her dislike towards Agatha was further fuelled when Agatha poached her cleaner, Gemma Simpson.

Sheila was having a secret affair with Andy Cummings-Browne, whom she had an unrequited love for. (Agatha Raisin & the Quiche of Death)

By the time the events of The Walkers of Dembley took place, Sheila had moved away from Carsely and her brother, James Lacey, had moved into her house.

Season 3

Sheila visited Carsely to see her brother after he came back from his successful book tour. When he soon disappeared on the same night his friend Melissa Sheppard was found dead in Agatha's cottage, Sheila teamed up with Agatha to track him down and clear his name. She later admitted to Agatha that in addition to visiting James, she had come to Carsely to escape from her own marriage problems. (Agatha Raisin & the Love from Hell)

Sheila is described as being an angular woman, with a receding chin and rather bulbous eyes. She wore her hair pinned back from her face in rolls, much in the style of the forties. (Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death)
